Quality Summit

IMG_0197.JPGCongratulations to all participants of the second annual Northern Light Health Quality Summit! Each year, we gather to share ideas and learn from one another about Quality initiatives happening throughout the system. We also have a little competitive fun by recognizing some of the best examples of how we’re raising the bar in patient care! Guest judges, Robert Hoffmann, MD; Sandra Parker, MHA, of the Maine Hospital Association; and Marie Vienneau, BSN, NE-BC, FACHE of Mayo Regional Hospital were on hand to decide the first, second, and third place winners of our Excellence in Quality Leadership and Quality Performance Excellence categories.

This year’s event was held on October 28 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bangor. Nearly 120 guests gathered, including board members, leaders, providers, and frontline team members, to present. The summit began with a welcome from Michelle Hood, FACHE, president and CEO of Northern Light Health. The audience then had the opportunity to listen to an engaging and thought-provoking presentation about High Reliability Organizations from one of the key thought leaders in healthcare, John J. Nance. A former Air Force and commercial airline pilot, John is a lawyer and accomplished writer who was one of the founders of the National Patient Safety Foundation.

New this year was the addition of the People’s Choice Award! Northern Light Health members were invited to submit a poster presentation showcasing a Quality initiative of their choosing from their member organization, with summit participants voting for their favorite.
